For the past few davs the Hood river has been on the rampage and has been higher than at any time since November H, 1'J4. when it cf.vcred the flat below the railroad track and did much damage to the btolKes niul ilams along It, says The Dulles Chronicle. Since Tuesday morning the river has been so high that It was con siilered to be In danger of washing away the railroad track and possi bly carrying out the ilum. ; At several places nlr.ng its bank It undermined I he track, making It necessary to prop it up with timbers. Several gauss of men have bc"n kept busy under the direction of Superintendent Sarly w itching its Inroads and making rc pilrs. At the dam Wednesday it was es timated that eiL'ht feet of water was going over It. Us volume went so hiL'h at oi.e time that It was washing doe. n the track on one side and was going over the gale on the other, maKlng It Impossible to reach It In order to shut the water off. The high water has been the cause of much trouble to the light company, having pa tlally filled the pipe with icfus,. and shut off part of their pow et. Fortunately, the town has not been deprived of light entirely, which has been the ease in other towns of eastern htnpni, which have also been hiving floods. Woi k nr. th- new bridge of the O.
