HrijntH received a telegram yesterday asking him to postpone the case of the State of Washington, ex rel., the Great Northern, Northern Pacific, O. 11. & N. and W. &. C. U. railroad companies, against the railway com mission of the state of Washington, until December or possibly later. Judge Hrents has granted the re quest. No reason was given for the postponement. The writ was return able today. The suit Is expected to cause the greatest railroad battle ever known In the state of Washington ns the rail road companies are determined to test the legality of the actions of the com missioners. The case on which the suit was brought, was heard in Walla Walla In June and resulted In the commission ordering rntes lower than tlio? In force. The ground on which the writ of review Is asked Is that the commission heard testimony and made findings on evidence not set forth In the com plaint. The continuation was asked for by the railroads.
