.Southern Pacific Will Clow I'p a Gap
of 27 Miles.
The Junction City Development
league held an Important meeting
Tuesday to take action In regard to
the building of the gap between Junc
tion and Corvallis, says the Corvallis
Times. This line of some 27 miles
was surveyed and the right of way
secured some 25 years ago and the
action of the league was to take steps
toward inducing the Southern Pacific
to build and equip this road. Peti
tions were gotten up and will be cir
culated over the north part of the
county, nnd also southern Benton
county, setting forth the advantages
and the need of this road.
It Is to be hoped the Southern Pa
cific will take action on this matter
or else surrender this valuable terri
tory. There Is not a strip of road In
the state as easy to build, as it Is level
the entire distance and from a rail
road standpoint the cost of construc
tion would be trifling. .

local freight solicitor of the Southern
Pacific Raliwny company, whose dis
appearance from his home at 1206
Columbine street on September 4 last,
created a sensation In Denver, Is be
lieved to be an Inmate of Katherlne
Tlngley's Theosophical Institution at
Point Loma, below San Diego, Cal.
