Adams, Oct. IS. Three thousand bushels of wheat are being shipped from this place for Chicago to mill and transit at Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for the Quaker Oats company. About half of this amount has already been shipped out, and the rest will go out In the next few days. The wheat dealers are having considerable trou ble in getting cars for handling the wheat. This shipment Is being made by the Kerr-Glfford company. J. T. Lleuallen, one of the big wheat growers of this section, had the misfortune to have a fine stack of all his summer cutting of alfalfa hay burned on his ranch a few miles from here a few nlshts ago. There were three cuttings of alfalfa In the stack and It Is believed to have been done by some hobo who hnd been sleeping In the hay. Twenty tons of wheat has just been shipped out by -the Interior Warehouse company to Moro, Ore., and 80 tons 111 go to Alblna for the Pacific Coas Elevator company. Mrs. Jerry Swartz and daughter are isitlng relatives in Athena for a few days. M. A. Ferguson returned to his home In Helix yesterday, after being here a few days with his parents, who re 111. The barley Is being chopped for feed. He pur chased S500 sacks of . barley a few days ago, and there are about 3000 or 4000 sacks at the mill now, to chop. " Now Hotel Proprietor, Charles Reed has purchased the hotel from his brother, T. C. Reed, and also the butcher shop on Main street, and he now has charge of both. The Oregon hotel has been closed for the present, the Commer cial house being the only one running at this time. Taken to Hospital. Huston Ferguson, who came here at few weeks ago from Idaho very 111, has grown so much worse that It was necessary to take him to the hospital at Pendleton yesterday. He has been suffering with neuralgia and a com plication of troubles. He Is related to Postmaster Ferguson and others In Adams. Wheat Sale. Peter Lacushe, a reservation far mer, has Just sold 5B00 bushels of wheat to the Interior Warehouse com pany at 53 cents per bushel. A number of the young boys In Ad ams, all of respectable parents, ages ranging all the way from 13 to 18 will be brought up for trial in Athena Saturday for having entered a num ber of farm houses between here and Athena. The boys have what they call a "hobo camp" out of town a dis tance, and while they have stolen no great amount, they have been taking chickens, eggs and supplies from houses to use for cooking at the camp.
