7 a. m., reaching Pendleton about

All Took Prtzes at the State Fair
Will Exhibit Elsewhere.
The car containing 12 of Mr. Ru
by's big stnlllnns arrived last evening
from S iiem. They each brought back
a prize, getting In oil four firsts, six
seconds, and two thirds. Owing to the
condition of the horses after their
long trip, being part of the last Im
portation, Mr. Ruby feels very well
satisfied over the showing they made.
Weight and flesh count big In a close
competition of this kind ami they
were exhibited against a lot of fine
horses.
The "show of fine stock at the fair
this -year was exceptionally good.
about 100 head being In competition,
representing the cream of the best
horses of the Pacific northwest. It
rained every day but Saturday nnd
yet with the disadvantage of Inclem
ent weather the fair was a big suc
cess. Mr. Ruby feels food over the
reception he received there nnd will
very likely take a number of his
horses down next yetr with the Inten
tion of making an even better show
ing. It Is likely Hint some of the best
horses from his barns here will be on
exhibition at our local fair next week
and lovers of fine stock will have a
treat In store for them. Mr. Ruby In
tends taking some of his horses to the
Walla Walla fair, also to the Idaho
state fair at Boise.
The horse business has started out
well this fall and Mr. Ruby feels con
fident that this coming winter will
prove n good one.
