Among the Exchanges of the Inland Empire Lewi Wool From Sorin Sprliifrs. The wool shipping seuson for this year rinsed thin week with n record of B7 cars. This makes the total about 150,000 pound short of liuti year's record, or 1,880,000 pounds for this season. This Is still In advance 100,000 pounds of that shipped In 1904, nnd would have been much larger than tact year had all of the sheep that were booked to shear here been ablo to get through, but the late season caused them to shear else where. The sheep shipping senson Is ex pected to open full blast on the 25th and will continue until the last of Oc tober. Over 100 cars paused through Boda from the west last Sunday and more are following. Soda's record last vrar was 1300 cars and the Chief tain hopes to be able to announce that this record has been broken when the season closes. Soda Springs (Idaho! Chieftain. Y. M. C. A. The hot, dry weather has dried the ground to such an extent that the po tatoes stopped growing. When water was put on them they started again. At 7 o'clock the dead body pf James Grove, on old settler In the Basin, was found In a sitting po sition braced against his bed In a little cabin in his ranfh half a mile from he town, where he lived nlone. He had evidently taken his own life, hav ing placed a 3!-callbre (revolver to his mouth and pulled the trigger. He was found sitting In a pool of blood and the weapon of destruction was on tho floor at his side still grasped by his rlsht hand. Orove was In town laBt night and was drinking heavily. However, It la known that he went home all right for some of the boys on their way fishing saw him at his cabin and talk ed with him nt about 6 o'clock. A coroner's Jury decided he committed suicide but no motive could be dis covered. Orove was about 60 years of age. and In comfortable circum stances. At one time he was reputed to be well off. About $60 was found In his pockets. It Is reported chat he has distant relatives somewhere In the east, but an effort to locate them has so far been unsuccessful. Just before daylight this morning a small cabin In Grnnlte creek gulch, about a mile from town, occupied by Ah He, n Chinaman between 90 and 100 years of nge, cnught fire mys teriously nnd burned to the ground, cremating the occupant. The fire was discovered by neighbors, but too late to save the aged Chinaman. Ah He was nearly blind nnd It was thought he tried to start a fire in the night, thlnklrg It was daylight. He has Just received n highly bred Russian boarhound from he Willamette valley, an animal up on which the express charges alon amounted to $52.60. He Is a splendid big fellow of the finest blood and John three other boarhounds In Mr. Ayre's kennels. There arc In addition to these, two other fine dogs which he uses In hunting coyotes.
