A force of men Is repairing the damage to the creamery foundation caused by the high water of a couple of weeks ago. It will be necessary to replace the entire foundation wall next to the river. The building itself and the machinery suffered no dam age. Several road petitions from this dis trict have been presented to the coun ty court and will be acted on by that body shortly. As so much of the land here will soon be reclaimed by irriga tion, the people feel that it will be to the advantage of all to have neves sary roads established as soon as pos sible, as it can now be done with very little cost to the conuty. The land Is becoming more valuable every day, and if the roads are established before the ditches are built, those putting In the ditches will have to build bridges wherever they cross the county roads. If the ditches 'are built first, the coun ty would have to build and pay for the bridges. John Shaw shipped a carload of fat cattle to Portland Saturday. THE GREAT RUBS CM & Oft IE OSS S MO 17 S P. Haussler the absconding photog rapher, who left Pendleton between two days, owing numerous bills about town, some month ago, is In serious trouble. A mai named Normal W. Cook, is now in jail In Lewiston, Idaho, charged with a criminal con spiracy against a young man named Albert Fallen. Haussler and Cook, Cook claiming to be hypnotized by Haussler, charged Fallen with mur dering his foster father, Louis fallen, Haussler and Cook before this, extort ed a 1500 check from Fallen through hypnotic influence, and Haussler then caused Cook to make the charge against Fallen for the purpose of ex torting more money from him. After a coroner's Jury exonerated Fallen from any part In the murder of his foster father near Lewiston, Cook, who had made the charges against Fallen, was urrested on charge or criminal conspiracy. Haussler, who is now In Butte, has not yet been arrested. After Cook had been placed in jail on the conspiracy charge, he made the following statement of the case and of Haussler's influence over him: 'Get Haussler; get that man here. Let him be seen," saiti Cook. "Then let fair-minded, qualified physicians examine me. I have been the unfor tunate slave of a dangerous man. He Is the real criminal. I do not believe Albert killed old man Faller. I did accuse hlin of It, but he only laughed. Three times I started to the Jail here to see him when he was In his trou ble, but I could get no further than the court house gate. Haussler's In fluence held me there. Albert was my best friend. He never made a con fession to me. He laughed nt me. That matter is all due to 'Haussler. 'I have known Haussler for about a year. He is a photographer. He also holds a physician's diploma from a German college. He Is very refined in manners verry, very refined. He Is soft-like and persuasive and is kind. He enn mesmerize a woman by simply placing his hnnds at her chin and the back of the heud. This Is true. He has controlled other people than me. "He caused me to come to Butte and sell my furniture in Spokane when I had no reason to do so. By suggestion he caused me to turn my affections away from my wife. I worked for lja week In Butte and i gave u to mm. i aon t Know wny. He even took me to Anaconda and made me Impersonate his brother. He Is a dangerous man. They should bring him here on this case. "The Faller note I was advised to keep to protect me against any possi ble loss In business matters relative to the photograph gallery In which Al bert and I had been partners. It was Haussler who suggested that I place this note in the hands of an attorney for collection. "Later Haussler called me to Butte. The statements relative to the alleged confessions given me and Haussler were prepared In Butte. Langguth the Portland attorney, was present. I signed the matter under the Influence of Haussler. He said something about Albert making some statement to me and also one to him. That is my only recollection of the matter. "As the Saviour knows I came here to testify against Albert believing I was doing what was right. When I was arrested on this charge, I did not fulnt but I underwent the same feeling that I had twice before under gone when I was under Haussler's hypnotic or mesmeric Influence. am telling you the truth. I hope you can understand this matter. I hope physicians will examine me. All this will be strange to the public. I have sufficient sense to understand that but I want to repeat It is the truth I wish Haussler would be brought here." WORK WEAKENS THE KIDNEYS.
