Dangerous Negro Arretted. .
Mr. Thomas, a colored man, was
brought up from Gooding lost Mon
day evening to be tried for his sanity.
He had arrived In Gooding that morn
ing and had been cutting some funny
capers In the town and some of thu
citizens thought It best to take him In
tow. He was, therefore, turned over
to the authorities here and after ex
amination he was judged Insane and
sent to the asylum at Rlackfoot Wed
nesday evening, when searched It
was discovered that he had purchas
ed n ticket In Seattle on May 29, for
Utah and had left on May 30. He al
so possessed a certificate of deposit
In the bank at Ladysmllh, B. C, for
1442.35. For a weapon Thomas had
a rock sewed In a coat sleeve to be
used as a slung shot should he be at
tacked. While nothing positive Is
known, suspicion points very strongly
to Thomas as being the person that
ravished and murdered the little 11-vear-old
Mllthoff girl near Seattle on
the 20th of May. He Is always talk
ing of the soldiers and others pur
suing him and speplu of some lady
and her little daughter and claims he
did not Injure the girl. As he pur
chased his ticket from Seattle the
ame day of the outrage, Is always
talking about something of the same
nature and left there the 30th. it is
very possible thut he may. In some
way. be connected with the Iprlme.

Ous Peters, the unfortunate young
man who, while working on the north
bnnk road, had his leg so badly mash
ed that It was necessary to amputate
It. died from his Injuries and yester
day afternoon was burled In the coun
ty plat at the cemetery. While sick
at the hospital, Peters told his nurse
that If anything hnppened to him to
communicate with Charles Huslcr, at
Spokane. This Mr. Omnia II has at
tempted to do, but could not succeed,
and nothing la known of the young
man's history. He said that he was a
muKicInn and had played In some of
