Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Mcintosh left
this morning for South Hend, Wash.,
where they will spend the summer.
It is Mr. Mcintosh's Intention to sell
his liquor business In this city and
leave Pendleton permanently. Mrs.
Mcintosh will not return to the city,
hut Mr. Mcintosh will come back next
fi'll, perhaps to close up his business
affairs here. Mr. Mcintosh has been
a resident of Pendleton for a number
of years and has a large circle of
friends here.

Rrldge Matters Received Attention of
the County Court.
This morning Commissioner Hor
ace Walker contracted with Moussu
& Co., of this city, for the making of
needed repairs to the abutments of
the two brldgrs that' were washed out
near A'.hena during the 'flood. They
are the Frank Mansfield bridge and
the Harvey Keating bridge, both of
which were washed away during the
high witer In Wild Horse creek. The
commissioners have advertised for
bids for the rebuilding of the bridges,
rind the same will be opened here on
July 6. However, 't Is necessary to
have the abutment repaired before
the bridge work is commenced, and
the work will be done bv Moussu &
Co.
On June 26 bids for the repair of
me ortuge above town and the one
at K.ctio will be opened by the com-
miiRioner.
REGENTS MEET TOMORROW.
President R. C. French Is Expected
to Re President.
For the purpose of taking steps to
wards the reopening of the Wesinn
normal school, the board of regents
oi mat instrtution will meet at Wes
ton tomorrow. Secretary Worthing
ton will come up from Portland this
evening or tomorrow morning for the
purpose of attending the meeting, and
a fujl attendance of regents is ex
pected. While no definite action has been
planned by the regents. It Is thought

will be selected tomorrow, If the en

ing at 10 o'clock and Interment will
he In Olney .cemetery.
Mr. I. akin left here four weeks ago
after n pleasant visit of several weeks
with his daughter. He was taken sick
on the way home and nfter his arriv
al his Illness developed Into pneumo
nia from which he died.
He wns a member of the G .A. R..
73 years of age e.nd had resided In
Port Angeles for 16 years. Four chil
dren survive him as follows: Mrs. J.
W. Young, of Pendleton: J. M. Lnkin.
of Port Angeles; Mrs. Dora Fletcher,
of Wenatchee, and Mrs. Esther Kitch

Noted Presbyterian Minister Called to
Chicago School,
A special session of the authorities
ef the First Presbyterian church of
Portland will be called next week for
the purpose of considering a call that
has been made to Dr. Edgar P. Hill
to the chair of homlletics in McCor
mlck seminary, Chicago, says the Ore
gon Daily Journal. It Is likely that
Dr. Hill will accept the call and dis
continue his services as pastor of the
First Presbyterian church early In
the fall.
Dr. Hill announced the offer at a
meeting of the board of directors of
the church last week, He stated at
the time that he was considering the
call. He stated this morning that he
had not decided to accept and that
the matter would be thoroughly con
sidered at the meeting next week.
Dr. Hill recently returned from it
trip abroad and the announcement of
his probable departure was a great
surprise to the members of his church.
In making the announcement Dr. Hill
stated that he had received several
calls last year from various prominent
chinches, but that his attachment to
Portland had compelled him to de
cline. ,
