EN NGS CATARRH Every Catarrh sufferer dreads the rettirn of cold weather, for at the first cold breath of the season this plague of Winter is fanned into life with all its miserable symptoms. The nostrils are stopped up, and a constant drop ping of mucus back into the throat keeps up a continual hawking and spit ting, the patient has dull headaches, ringing noises in the ears and a half sick, depressed feeling alb the time. . Every inner lining nnd tissue of the body becomes inflamed, and secretes an unhealthy matter which is absorbed into the blood and distributed to all parts of the body, and the dinea.se be comes constitutional. The catarrhal poison brings on stomach troubles, affects the Kidneys and Bladder, attacks the soft bones of the throat and head and if not checked leads to Consumption. A disease so deep-seated and dangerous cannot be washed out, neither can it be smoked away. Sprays, washes, inhalations, etc., are useless, because they only reach the membranes and tissues, while the real cause of the disease is in the blood. S. S. S. cures Catarrh because it attacks it through the blood; it goes into the circulation and drives out all unhealthy accumulations and catarrhal matter, and when this is done every part of the system receives a supply of rich, pure blood. REXA'ITRF.R AIX'OHOL. Report of Committee Slious Its Vut Seldom has there been before con gress u bill of the importance of that which calls for tax-free denatured al cuhol, which phrase means In plainer English, alcohol which has been so treated as to convert It Into lliul useful, but poisonous, and not to be taken Into the human system. As the grain and fruit alcohol, or, as it Is calted, ethyl alcohol, can be produced very cheaply. If it could bj so treated as to allow it to escape the spirit tax. it could become a most val uable article of commerce, to be used In hundreds of kinds of manufactures, besides being a cheap commodity which will be of Infinite service In generating powei, light and heat. Reporting to congress from the ways and means committee, Mr. Payne, chairman of the committee, says: "The bulk of free denatured alco hol In Germany Is used for the pur pose of light, fuel nnd heat. A lamp is now made with a Wclsbach mantle which produces a very strong, steady and high grade light by the use of al cohol. "Experiments have been made test ing this lamp with the most Improved pattern kerosene lamps with roun 1 wicks and of equal candlepower; it was found that a gallon of alcohol would keep the alcohol lamp burning twice ns many hours as would a gal Ion of kerosene burning In the most approved pattern of kerosene lamp which Is In general use. In other wors, one gallon of alcohol Is etjual to two gallons of kerosene for lighting purposes. Hence, It follows If the price of alcohol methylated Is le.-s than double the price of kerosene 1 ; use, especially on the farms and in the villages of tli,- country, would become eiifii'iiioiis. "During the past few months ex periments have been made in adapt ing gasoline power engines to the use of alcohol. This has been success fully done in (lermany for several years, though there they generally mix 2T per cent of gasoline with the alcohol to obtain a more ready Igni tion of the fluid, which is forced Into the cylinder of the engine In the form of vapor. Experiments in this coun try have devolped the fact that alco hol can he used Just as readily as this mixture with gasoline or the gasoline Itself, and the operation of the engine with Its use Is perfect. The use of .'mall motor engines running with gasoline has become very large. In the estimate before the committee It would nppear that 300,000 of these engines were now In use and thai the annual output Is more than 100,000. "Millions of gallons of molasses, from which one-half as many gallons of alcohol could be made, are pro duced In the manufacture of beet ugar. Should the beet sugar develop as Its friends antlclpnte, a large sup ply of this material would be found In the northwestern states, where the price of kerosene and gasoline Is ex ceptionally high. "Unquestionably this would supply n market for the by-product In the manufacture of beet sugar which gen erally goes to waste and would prove a potent factor In the development of that Industry. This belief Is shared by the great mass of our fellow citi zens from nil parts of the United States, nnd the demand for tax-free denatured alcohol Is well nigh uni versal." Will Cure Consumption. A. A. Herren, Finch, Ark., writes: "Foley's Honey and Tar is the best preparation for coughs, colds and lung trouble, I know that It hns cured consumption In the first stages." Tou never heard of any one using Foley's Honey and Tar and not being satisfied. Koeppens' drug store. How many women do you know who are perfectly well and strong? We bear every day the same story over and over again. " I do not feel well ; I am to tired all the time 1 " More than likely you speak the same words yourself, and no doubt you feel far from well. The cause may be easily traced to some derangement of the fe male orpans which manifests itself in depression of spirits, reluctance to go anywhere or do anything, backache, bearing-down pains, flatulency, nerv ousness, sleeplessness, or other fe male' weakness. These symptoms are but warnings that there is danger ahead, and unless heeded a life of suffering or a serious operation is the inevitable result. The never-failing remedy for all these symptoms is Lydia E. Pinkham's Veg etable Compound. Miss Kate McDonald of Woodbrldge, N. J., writes : Dear Mrs. Pinkhsm: " Restored health has meant so much to m that I causot help from telling about it for the sake of other suffering women. " For long time I suffered untold agony with a female trouble and irregularities, which made me a physical wreck, and no one thought I would recover, but Lydia E. Pink ham's Vegetable Compound has entirely cured me. and made me well and strcng, and I feel it mv dutv to tell other suffering women what a splendid medicine it is." For twenty-five years Mrs, Pinkham, daughter-in-law of Lydia E. Pinkham, has under her direction, and since her decease, been advising sick women free of charge. Her advice is free and always helpful. Address, Lynn, Mass.
