Albert Voss. aged 24, a carpenters

OX RESERVE POLICY
WUI Endeavor to Crowt the Yakima
Reservation;
Yakima, June 1, The North Const
railway has Just completed the work
of notifying some of the Indians of
the reservation that It would apply
to the secretary of tht Interior for" a
right of way for Its railway through
their lands. This work was done by
Klau Dean of Rumiyslde, and Lancas
ter Splicer of Toppenlsh. Notices
had been prepared for them by the
attorney for the railway and the no
tices were served on all those owning
lands within the proponed right of
way.
The North Coast rortd will cross the
Yakima river Into the- reservation at
point about two miles northwest of
Granger. This Is nlmrt due east f
Toppenlsh, a distance of about
miles. From there the road will run
northjWest , In ah almost straight line
to the Parker siding on the Northern
Pacific. Crossing the Northern Pa
cific at Parker siding the North Coast
will bear a little to the wevt and then
parallel the Northern Pacific through
the Union gap and to this place-.
The distance of the road from Wa-
pato will be about tlirec-iiu'irters of
a mile. From the Yakima river east
ward the road w'll ikus through
Granger, crossing the Sunnyslde spur
of the Northern Pacific below that
place, and continuing on to the new
town of Falrvlew, thence tothoCol'
umbla river. Just where It' will cross
the Columbia has not been definitely
settled on.
The application for a right of way
through the reservation will be made
to the secretary of the Interior as
soon as the papers can be prepared
and forwarded to Washington. The
laud that will be used has all been u-
lotted to the Indians and will have to
be paid for. The application for a
right of way through the Rainier
forest reserve was made some time
ago.
