EIGHT PAGES. DAILY EAST OREGONIAN, PENDLETON, OREGON, THURSDAY, MAY 10, 1906. PAGE SEVEN. Among the Exchanges of the Inland Empire $125,000Rcal Ertate DeuL What Is probably the largest real estnto deal that lias been closed In Holse or the Boise valley for a num ber of years, will be consummated to day. It Is not the largest In point of acreage, but it Is the largest In the amount of money that Is being paid for the land. The deal Is for the Bills tract, which adjoins the city on the northwest and Is being purchased by W. E. Fierce & Co. und associates t from George D. Ellis, president of tho ' Capital State bank. Tor M26.000. The deal has been under way for several weeks, during which Pierce -Co. and associates have held an option on the property und a considerable amount of money has been paid down. Thi're seemed to have been a number of obstacles which It was necessary to clear away before the consumma tion of the sale could be made, but now it Is understood that everything has been stre'gMened out and the fl- nal papers will !;; passed today. The tract adjoins tho city Just north of Fatrvlew addition and west of the new Highland Park addition and Lo cust Orove addition. It Is one of the finest pieces of land surrounding Boise, and the price being paid for It amounts to 1806.45 an acre:" Only a . few yenrs ago probably the land could have been purchased for half that price or less, but the city Is rapidly ex tending In that direction and It seeifls that It will only be a short time before that section will be practically built up with residences. v The trnct lies well for a residence district. It will be served by each of two electric- lines. It Is the Intention of Pierce & Co. to plat in a short time at least a portion of the tract and get It ready for the market. Boise States man. Tree Aci-omm the Track. A passenger train on the Bumpter Valley railroad met with a narrow escape oo day last week. It was going down a steep grade when the' engineer suddenly discovered a glgan- tic pine tree across the track. Fortu- nately. the engineer wan able to stop' the train before It reached the ob-j structlon. Two dull axes were all the! tools on hand and it took the passen-j gers nnd crew several hours to clear the debris. There are a large num-: ber of these trees along the track which, It Is 'Stated, are dangerous to traffic. Long Creek Ranger. ! Two Men Were Stubbed. Frank Rice Is suffering from three knife cuts and Mat Meyer received a dangerous thrust in the hand from a knife alleged to have been wielded by Bill Crandal! In Sharp's saloon at Luclle, about 6 o'clock yesterday afternoon. ' After the cutting the two wounded men mounted their horses and rode 16 miles to Whlteblrd where, weak from loss of blood, they receiv ed medical attention from Dr. Fos kett. L'nlcss blood poisoning sets In the wounds will not prove serious. ! GrnngeVlllc Free Press. Ynklma Quarterly HeiMirt.
