The light from the engine would strike the track directly before him ' and It Is ' supposed thnt the man thought the train was coming on the track he was then on and he stepped to the other track to be out of the way.' The dis tance is so short from the switch to wherexjie was struck that It Is thought he had no time to get off the track after he discovered his mistake. He was thrown some 26 or 30 feet before he struck the ground and bounced and rolled a distance of several feet after that. The shock broko his limbs and evidently killed him Instantly. At that time I was suffering severely from an attack of kidney complaint and could scarcely do a day's work. To stoop or rise after stooping hurt so acutely that I could hardly koep from crying out. When a man has suffered with a back which felt half the time as though it was broken, which could not stand the slightest pressure, when he could not sit 'down, stand or lie with nny comfort and still has to go to his dally w rk he naturally be , comes anxious about his condition. Eaton, owner of the Union Woolen mills, Informs the Republican that the mill payroll at present Is run nlng about $1200 per month. The mill uses about 1000 cords of wood and 250 tons of coal per year, and It will take from $65,000 to $70,000 worth of wool to run the concern for the coming year. From these figures one may gain something of an Idea of the money required to operate the mill and the value of Buch expenditure to the town. Manufacturing enterprises or the nature of the Union Woolen mill are of great advantage to any community and should not be under estimated In ilguring up the com munity's resources.
