Whitney, of the Idaho penitentiary, filed his regular Tnonthly report for April In the office of the secretary of state yesterday. On April 30 there were 212 convicts In ' the state prison or 12 less than on the last day of March. During April It convicts were discharged and on es taped, the latter being James Tannin, wf Washington county, for whom the . T)fflier are still searching. Three of the prisoners discharged were pardon ed. They ure NelBon Hlgglns, sent ' from l.'annnck county on conviction of . criminal assault; Edmund Anderson from Bingham county, convicted of burglary; Edward Lancaster, from Idaho county, convicted, of rape, ' Hut four prisoners were admitted to the state pclntentlary last month, and three of them were convicted In Kootenai county. They are George Miller, six months for burglary; Fred Parker, one year for grund larceny, :and James Jleske, three years for rand larceny. The other new arrival was sent up for one year from Hear lake county on conviction of embez zlement. His name Is II. B. Thomp son. Boise Statesman. Adulterated Canned (iood. More than 50 cases of canned peas of v certain brand were condemned In Boise yesterday by State Pure Food Inspector A. F. Hltt. They were found In three different stores of the -city and out of four cans opened a quantity of nightshade berries was found in each can. Not only were there berries In the peas, but to show that they were carelessly put up In each of the two cans a large bug was frtund. Nightshade berries or apples are ' supposed to be Very poisonous.
