"nothing doing." No contracts have
been made as yet, so far as can be
learned and both buyers and growers
are holding off.
Prices have not been established as
yet this year. Mr. Hellner said this
morning that the growers are holding
their wool at a higher mark than the
buyers eare to meet. This explains
the fact that no sales have been made
so far. Last year the prices ranged
from 15 to 20 cents and will probably
be In the same scale this season.

W ant 2 Pit Cent on County Money.
The county commissioner in spc
clal session yesterday voted to exact
2 per cent Interest on all county
funds on deposit In banks, as a recent
act of the legislature gave all boards
of commissioners the right to do the
amount of Interest to be charged be
ing left by law optional with the com
missioners. In the past tho county's
money has been divided between the
two local banks, which had the use
of It without Interest. ,
At the present time Shoshone coun
ty has on hand $123,800 or had that
amount March 31 $37,K7.0! of
which belongs to the school districts
and I0S.OO6.S2 to the construction
fund. The last mentioned amount Is
for use In building the new court
house, now under construction, and
may be drawn out before any Interest
has accrued upon It
It Is not known yet whether or not
the local banks want the county's
money at 2 per cent. If they refuse
to take It, the county may place It
with any other bank In the state, and
If that cannot be done then It will
have to be placed In bank as a spe
cial deposit, and the bank holding It
paid for Its care, without the right to
use It Wallace Tribune.

Fire broke out In the slornge room
of the Avalanche printing office about
1 o clock this morning and destroyed
lhe entire building. The big press,
gasoline engine and paper cutter of
the Avalanche were saved In a dam
aged condition, together with a little
type, but most of the type, also racks
and other things belonging to the of
fice were destroyed. The early files
of the paper, when it ran as a dally,
were all destroyed. They were of
great historic value, and can not be
replaced.
The loss Is not covered by Insurance,
the rate being so high no Insurance
was carried. The fire Is believed to
have been the result of electric wires
getting crossed, as the flames were
first seen Issuing from the roof, and
on breaking in the door the celling
was all ablaze, while the lower part
of the room was not burning. Efforts
were made to put the fire out, but such
headway had been gained that noth
