At a meeting of the Business Men's association held last evening It was definitely decided to celebrate the Fourth of July, and a motion was made and carried that a committee of five be appointed to make arrange ments. As President Tavlor wished to select this committee with care, the same was not named at the time. It was the general sentiment of the meeting last night that Pendleton should celebrate this year, and that the fact should be made known at once. As the cltv has not observed the Fourth of July for several years. it Is planned to have a celebration mat will be worth attending. Decoration Ttav The observance of Decoration Day was also discussed last evening, and a committee composed of Lee Teutsch, A. W. Robinson and J. W. Mnlonpv was appointed to have charge of the program for the occasion. The subject of advertising on hotel registers was discussed at leneth. n Alexander refusing to pledge himself to aostatn from such advertising. Finally, upon motion of Ijnn fnhon It was decided to appoint a committee to ascertain what it would cost to nave advertisements of the city and county resources placed In the regis ter instead of firm ads. Messrs. Co hen, Alexander and Donaldson were appointed on this committee. Many of the business firms of tha city have now signed the by-laws of the association, and the memhershin is steadily increasing. TO PLAY" HERE SUNDAY. "Boosters" of Walla to Meet "Yellow Kids" in Pendleton. The Walla Walla Boosters baseball team will meet the Athena Yellow Kids In this city next Sunday, April 29. The Walla Walla Statesman says: Arrangements have been made by Manager Tempany to play two games of ball this week with the Yellow Kids. The Boosters will go to Athena next Saturday morning and meet the Kids on the diamond In the afternoon. On Sunday tl.e two teams will go to Pendleton where they will give an other exhibition of the national game. For Sunday the O. R. & N. company announces a special excursion train to be run from Walla Walla to Pen dleton. The train will leave Walla Walla at 10 o'clock In the morning, and re turning will leave Pendleton at 7 o'clock. Urgent appeals for aid for destitute telegraph operators in San Francisco are being sent out by the Commercial Telegraphers' union.
