We will endeavor to close earlyfor the Rader meeting. MAY RAISE OOVNTY SALARIES. Would Appear to Be Just for Nex Perce County. Says the Lewlston Teller: The board of county commissioners ill at some time during the session tlx the salaries for the county offices for the next term and the results of such fixing will be watched with In terest. There Is a general feeling that coincident with the rapid growth of the county business the salaries of all the offices will be fixed at the maxi mum limit. This will mean the rais ing of salaries for five of the offices. The maximum for the sheriff Is 32.000, who now gets 31750; the maximum for the treasurer is 31500, who now gets 31200. The county at torney Is due to get a raise of 3150; he now gets 31350. The coroner may have his salary doubled. He now gets 3150 and may have 3300. The school superintendent at 31200, the auditor at 32000 and the assessor at 33000 an dthe surveyor at 3800 are already receiving the maximum salary as provided by law. The board of directors of the Ore gon Pioneer association, at a recent meeting elected officers and made ar rangements for the S4th annual re union, to be held Thursday, June 14. in Portland. The speaker selected for that day was Allen Weir of Olympla, expresldent of the Washington pio neers. Rev. A. J. Hunsacker of Mc- Mlnnvllle, was chosen chaplain, and Joseph Buchtel grand marshal. The woman's auxiliary will be un der the direction of Mrs. Charlotte Cartwrlght. The officers chosen are: John W. Mlnto, president (1848); George H. Hlmes, secretary (1853); directors, E. Magers (1852), Robert A. Miller (185.4), Judge William Gal loway (1852). Wireless Station Pendleton Telephone Promoter Here. H. H. Manny, field agent and pro moter 'of the Stromberg-Carlson Tel ephone company, of Seattle, is in the city today looking over the situation with regard to the completion or tne organization of the rural telephone company In Umatilla county. Mr. Manny was here at the formation of the rural telephone association which was organized a month ago. He hopes to be able to induce the promoters of the project to carry it to comple tion. The Chapman & Son planing, sash and door mill, which has been Idle at Eugene for a year, has been sold to Warner, Lucky A Lucky, and will at once be put in operation. Wireless Telegraphy Is a prove success; it is founded on a great scientific Invention and Is commercially practical. ' The United States government uses and endorses the system; the navy department con tiact alone calls for sixty-five thousand dollars. The American DeForest Wireless TelegraphComatny Is three years old. The stations of the company bring in a commercial Income of over sixty thousand dol lars per month. This la greater than the Income of the Bell telephone after fourteen years. The possibilities of Wireless on land and sea areunllmlted. The Bell telephone and Edison electrlo have made fortunes for all Investors and yet the DeForest Wireless Sys tem will be used more universally than either, and the capital stock of the American De Forest Wireless Telegraph Company Is less than one-eighth of the capitalization of the companies founded on great Inventions In universal use. Edison Electric advanced from One hundred dollars to Four thousand dollars per share In one year. The American DeForest Wireless Telegraph Company Is capitalized at fifteen million dollars. Three and a half million preferred and eleven and a halt million common. Pre ferred and common stock share equally In the profits after 7 per cent Is paid on the pre ferred. ' The preferred is now selling at 312.50 and the common at six dollars per share.
