It can be definitely stated that the Columbia Valley railroad, which has Just started construction of a line from Vancouver, Wash., to a point opposite Wullula, is a Harrlman line, sa'3 a Portland dispatch. Articles of Incorporation of the road were drawn In the offices of W. W. Cotton, head counsel for the Harrl man lines In the northwest, and a high official of the system confirms Its connection with Harrlman. That its present activity Is due to the lnten tlon of the Union Pacific managers to build and operate a line of railway along the north bank of the Columbia Is believed. It is predicted this move means an Invasion of Hill territory by pushing a line north from Wallula connecting with Connell and on Into the Big Bend country. Need Another Truck. Reasons for the building of another Harrlman line along the Columbia are said to be the need for another track to handle the Increasing busi ness of the northwest. With ship ments of lumber east Increasing by leaps and bounds and with the great expanse of building a double track along along the south bank of the Co lumbia, the Harrlman managers nat urally turn to the WasrTlngtdn shore for an easy route to the territory. Whl'o the Hill lines will have three roads across the coast states with the completion of the Portland & Seattle. Harrlman has but one single track railway. ' There is the belief In some qunrters that an arrangement has been made with the St. Paul for the use of the Columbia Valley tracks. The Hnrrl man road and the St. Paul managers are on very friendly terms and have existing traffl6 arrangements. Additional contracts' for the con slructlon of the Columbia Valley were j let today, making about 40 miles of grading and surfacing assured. Pres ident Gerllnger refuses to divulge the sources of his support, but there Is no question that the money comes from the Harrlman coffers. FOR PIONEERS' REUNION. Committee' Named by President J. T.
