I'Jxccpt when located In Incorporat
ed cities and towns, there will be no
saloons In the vicinity of grading
camps on the Culdesac-Qrangevllle
branch line. This will be the case,
because a law passed By tne loano
legislature In 1903 denies the com
missioners the right to Issue a license
for selling llojuor in less than five gal
lon quantities at any point within five
miles of a camp where 26 or more
incn are employed on public work.
County Attorney Crow stated yester
day that railroad work, under the
terms of the law, would be classed as
public work so that the law applies
ot the latter. The only exception
made by the law Is where a retail
liquor license had been granted six
months prior to the Inauguration of
such work.
The matter was called to th atten
tlon of the county attorney yester
day for an opinion In view of iho fact
that the question hud 'been discussed
In connection with reports that par
ties were contemplating establishing
a Bystein of schools along the line of
the road. Culdesac, Cottonwood and
Orangcvllle are the only Incorporated
towns on tho new road. Lewlston
