The annual clipping; of wool In the
Yakima valley commences tomorrow
nd will be prosecuted throughout
the month of March and the greater
part of April. It U a little early for
shearing sheep, but some of the
sheepmen are anxious to have tho
work done and get their sheep on the
tcedlng grounds. Pusture has been
good this winter and this spring It
promises to be better than usual.
The big shearing plant of 8. Hunt
ington will be started In the course
of the next two weeks. It Is expected
to shear at least 40,000 head at this
plr.nt. Indications arc that the clip
will be good this spring, as the sheep
hove wintered well. The winter has
been mild, and paMturuge In some
parts of the valley has been very
good.
There is no question about good
prices for wool this year, although
there may. be something to Intervene
between now and the annual Bpilng
buying time to run prices down. Wool
is now above the 20 cent mark and
It may go higher. The prices of sheep
are also higher than in any previous
year in the history of the Yakima

"We shipped during the season Just
passed about 100 carloads of apples
to eastern points," said E. K. Samp
son, of the Yakima Horticultural
Union today. . "We are loading the
rest of the apples on hand now to be
shipped out this week and when
these urc gone the apple imp of the
union members will practically be nil
sold.
"All but a few carloads of these
apples were sent to the eastern mar
kets and brought unusually good
prices. The markets for tho Yakima
apples are becoming larger each year.
We nre now sending Hit in to the new
York, Huston and London markets.
I look for a big crop of all kinds of
fruit In the Yakima valley this year.
This probably will make prices n lit
tle lower than they were last season,
providing there Is a good crop In the

Quarantine Against Oregon Nhuep.
The Wyoming state board of sheep
commissioners has quarantined Mon
tana, Utah and Oregon, and has or
dered that all sheep in Wyoming be
examined at shearing time for scab.
Clrculur 13 orders that all sheep
and bucks from the above mimed
'three states must be dipped twice on

quarantined for 30 days.

and bucks In Wyoming must be ex

periment among sheepmen, which It
Is thought will give guild results.
