water and lie Is confident a good flow
of water will be obtained within the
next few hundred feet, when he hopes
to penetrate the lava bed. There is no
doubt that the railroad company will
sink nt least 2000 feet before discon

Court House Bonds Sold.
The court house bonds for ISO, 000
were sold today bv the county com
missioners to X. W. Harris & Co., of
Chicago, at 4 per cent and $100 pre
mium. The bonds are optional In 15
years, hut run for 20 years. One-half
the money Is to be paid over to the
count v by M.irrh 1, 1 906, and the other
half whenever tho county needs the
it'oiif y. but not later than September
1, lOOfi. The sale of these bonds was
pursuant to an order of the commis
sioners some time ago calling for bids
Work on the court house will now

and material can he secured. Already
the foundation Is being constructed.

Ilev, H. Stanley, who Is charged with
trying to beat I. B. Turnell, of the
Pacific, hotel, out of a hoard bill and
also with securing subscriptions to sev

is not an agent, was given a hearing
before Justice Taggard Saturday after
noon nnd was bound over for trial' In
the superior court In the sum of 1200
bonds.
Sheriff Grant has received a letter
from the police at Wenatchee, saying
that If Stanley wns not held here they
would came after him as he Is wanted
there for beating a hotel keeper out of
a bill of $40 for board. Word has
also- been received from Everett that
Stanley Is wanted there for Jumping
a board hill of $20. Yakima Repub
lic. Creamery on the Oowlchp.
Charles Gerber, who lias been man
ager of the Meadowbrook creamery
here for the past three years, went to
the Cowlche today to make arrange
ments to, build a $2000 creamery near
the store In that valley. The plant
will have a capacity equal to that of
any other creamery In the valley.
The machinery has been ordered
and will be hauled out as soon as It
arrives. In the meantime, Mr. Gerber
will go ahead and erect his buildings.
He will use the cream furnished him
by the farmers of the Cowlche valley
and the building of the plant will
stimulate the dairy business there. A
good part of the land that will come
under the Tletnn canal Is on the north
fork of the Cowlche Yakima Daily
Republic.
Survey Nearly Heady for Director.
A party of O. R. & N. surveyors
were In Enterprise the latter part of
list week. They were sent In by Chief
Engineer Boschke to take a few kinks
out of the curves snd straighten up
the line generally before the survey
Is submitted to the directors. They
finished their work and left Tuesday
morning for Elgin. We understand
that the O. R. & N. and Cook project
will come up this month before the
supreme court for trlui. As soon as
this case Is settled the railroad will be
pushed on to Joseph. Joseph Herald.
The water In Snake river still keeps
