Real Clearing tlie Snake River Channel. The dredge boat Wallowa returned to dock yesterday from her trip up the river to Cox rapids, where some excellent work was occompllshed. The stream at this point was found to be full of large boulders, and all efforts to line over the rapids were unsuccessful. The dredge was then brought Into service, and after sev eral hours' work the channel was suf flclently cleared to permit the passage of the boat with little difficulty, the surface of the water being at least five feet above any rocks In the stream. Captain Wlnsjow then pro ceeded to a point near t'ie pest house where some large boulders were rak ed out. The mot difficult work performad was Just this side of Asotin, where an Immense boulder Iny In the center of the strenm, making the channel on either side at this stage of water very narrow nnd dangerous to pass. Sev eral blasts were ued In removing this obstruction, and the channel Is now 50 feet wide at this point. As a re sult of the good work done by the Wallowa the steamer Lewlston made a trip to Asotin yesterday and brought down 1310 sacks of wheat, the largest cargo ever brought down from Asotin at the present low stage of water.
