Mr. Bmlth, who I at the head of the grout Irrigation ditch thut Is being built In Baker county, states that the headgates that are located about six and a half miles east of town are all completed and work has now been started on the ditch proper, i A camp has been established Mve mile from the city and one and one half miles from the head gates. , Men with teams are here and are now working toward the hend of the ditch. Next week, work 'will be started east f town, and the monster tunnel which will be nearly (00 feet long will also tee commenced. The tunnel will go through Reservoir Hill and will be a great piece of engineering work, be ta g through rock moBt of the way. Today Mr. Smith was at the city hall conferring with the officials re garding the leasing of' the city's grad er. He has agreed to pay ti per day for Its use. Mrs. Blair last night told the Statesman to announce that the baby will be on ex klbltlon no longer; that it had found a good home; that visitors would con fer a favor on her and on the baby by staying away.
