London, Nov. 17. Israel Zangwill, the noted Jewish author and Zionist, has sent the following cable to the ed itor of the Chicago Dally News: "The horrors of a hundred St. Bar tholomews are In full carousal and American and Jewish bankers have at last discovered that words are In vain, and paper protests, even when stamped with the dollar sign, are Idle folly. In the presence of the volcanic forces of human nature, money can do nothing. Roosevelt can do nothing. Wltte can do nothing. It Is a valuable lesson for Jewish philanthropists, even though it costs 5000 lives and CO. 000 horrors to teach it to them. "A people can only be saved by itself. Jews must save themselves orl perish. The Russian, does not want ' the Jew for a brother. He does not , want the Jew to assimilate himself to I him. as philanthropic parrots preach. I He does not want the Jew to help him to freedom. He Is even jealous of the Jew's success as a revolutionist. But leaders of Jewry, so-called practical men, still hug their vain and mischiev ous dream. "Emancipation for the Jew can only be acquired on paper. Jews must leave Russia slowly but finally. They must build a state for themselves. They must face nature, savage nature, but less savage than the Russian masses. The organization already ex ists for this great gradual migration. Just here we wish to say that we have very much appreciated the splendid trade and large measure of confidence which the people of Umatilla County have bestowed upon us. Many of the most substantial citizens of the county are members of the Golden Rule Store family and have for years been regular patrons of the store. The breaking up of this family produces a feeling of sadness on our part. They have been loyal to us. We have tried to be true to them. To our old customers we wish to say that the last weeks of this store's life so far as its bargain giving ability is concerned will be the best. We are not forced out of business, Larger opportunities beckon us on. We give up the good that we may take up the better. But that we may accomplish this no time is to be lost, Big opportunities will not wait, We must get this stock off our hands at once. The ridiculously low prices we have been making will be nothing as compared to those we will now make V If you are wise you will now buy all the dress goods, waistings, ginghams, outings, muslins, lawns, embroideries, laces, wrappers, skirts, muslin underwear, shirt waists, outing flannel skirts and gowns, cloaks, hosiery, shoes, clothing, men's and hoys' pants, shirts, hats, caps, wool and cotton underwear, sweaters, comforts, umbrellas, furs, notions, etc., etc., needed for years to come.
