The cases of the three men arrested at Thorpe and Ellensburg on u charge of burglary In connection with the looting of the Hhnotlng gallery on South Second Htreet, had a hearing be fore Juki ice Taggard late Monday evening. The result was that one pleaded guilty and made a (ull con tention, clearing the other two and Implicating another man named Mil ler. Frank Welch, the man who plead ed guilty, told of drinking heavily with the man Miller on the night of the robbery nnd of noticing the trunk with the rifles, knives and other property and of taking It ncross the railroad truck nnd breaking the top open, and then of hiding the wntches nnd rifles and taking only the knives, tie also promised to show the officers where the remainder of the stolen property was located. As his confession cleared the other two men, they were allowed to go, with instructions to lenve the country os soon as possible. Welsh was bound over to the superior court and the county authorities will muke an effort to apprehend Miller and bring him back here for trial. North Yakima Republic. Drunken Indian Muke Trouble. Three hop pickers from the Lynch ranch were nswiulted by drunken In dians Monday night near the Shunno ditch as they were returning from town. After a bloody fight the white men overcome their assailants and brought them In to the city Jail. They say that the trouble was st irted by the Indians, who began matters with a volley of stones, knocking one of their number unconscious. A war rant for the arrest of the Indians, who ure now In the city Jail on a charge of being drunk and an assault and buttery, has been asked. The three men who are pressing the churge are 11. C. McGuiness has compiled the following statistics or tho October weather for the pant 16 years so as to give the people of Ba ker City an idea of what they may expect this coming month: The mean or normal temperature has been 48 with the warmest month, 1 a 0 1, recording 03 degrees. The cool est month was in 1899 with an acr age of 43 degrees. The highest tem perature for any duy In the month for the past 18 years was 85 degrees on the fifth, 1899. Frost always visits this section In October and the aver age rainfall has been .99 inches. As a general thing tho weather Is fairly good with an average of only 10 cloudy days during the month and nine partly cloudy days. Tho winds are from the south and average about six miles per hour. Snow may bo ex pected at any time during the month for In 1899 there were 4.8 Inches un tho 11th and 12th. Baker City Her ald. Tlilof Got Four Cents. The Presbyterian parsonage was tittered by a burglar and ransacked while Minister L. F. Hayden and his family were at' church Sunday even ing. The burglar got very little for his trouble.
