Holt, synodlcal mission ary of the Presbyterian church for Oregon, will arrive In the city today for a brief business visit. Irwin of the Delta, has Just returned from a five weeks' visit to St. Joe, Mo., San Francisco and Portland. She was met In Portland by Mr. Irwin, who went down a few days ugo to return home with her. Mrs. B. F. Williams, mother of J, T. Lam birth of this place, is here to. day accompanied by her grandson Ralph Mugee. They have Just return ed from Portlund, where they have been to see the fair, and visited here today with Mr. Lnmblrth while on their way home to Spokane. William H. Wilson, a well known gardener living two miles east of Echo, on the Umatilla river, Is in the city on a trading trip. Peterson, a Middle Fork rancher, reported the Long Creek Ranger that hnrvestlmr Is over In that section, and his thresher pulled Into the sheds for the winter. George, a dry goods dealer of Arl ington, for the formation of a com pany to start a store in Echo in place or tne one burned down there a few weeks ago. The committee appointed to investi gate the suggestion of Irregularities In the office of Engineer Slctz, reported that they hud made quite an extensive Investigation and that the evidence was conflicting. That they hod asked for his resignation which they handed the council as u part of their report.
