here from Poncu City, Oklahoma.
These gentlemen were sent here as a
committee of a colony of something
over fifty Oklahoma families who re
sire to to come to this county and
muke their home. The people they
represent are all thrifty and many of
them have considerable means to In
vest.
The gentlemen are more than
pleased with this section und It Is
almost a settled fact that the colony
will come as this valley presents the
conditions they are looking for.
They desire to become located in a
new country where land Is not too
high and where they will have
chance to use some of their rights on
government land. They are satisfied
that some of the 4,721,000 acres of
vacant government land In Homey

The gentlemen will go overland to
Shaniko where they will again take
the train and visit the fair. From
Portland they will return to Okla

Eight Thousand Sockcye Salmon In
One Haul of a Seine.
The largest catch of salmon made
on the salmon banks with a seine this
year was made by a party of fisher
men from Ballard, Wash., who took
8000 sockeye salmon In one haul In
the middle of the season. The catch
was made by a party of eight men.
who have fished the waters of the
Sound for ten years, and It Is pro
nounced one of the largest. If not the
largest, haul made with a seine.
Leonard Sttygen, of Ballard, who
was with the party, in speaking of
the haul, said: "We drifted all night
on the salmon banks, which are near
San Juan island, and regarded as the
best of the fishing locations on the
sound. We had an enormous seine.
It was really more than we could
handle. Just before morning a large
shoal of salmon were seen Jumping
In the shallow water toward shore.
We ran them down and let out the
seine.
"After rowing around the fish and
closing In on them we were amazed
to find that we had captured a small
scow load of the silvery creatures.
This bunch of fish was worth $2000.
It Is the largest catch made this sea
son by seine."

The Grouse Season
When you dress think about the Pendleton Steam Laundry. Ask
yourself If your linen work Is as It should be. A man who wears
good clothes cannot afford to wear "fairly good" laundry work. If
you find your collars are poorly turned, If you find they have saw
edges, If you find them specked, remember that these faults have been
overcome at the Pendleton Steam Laundry, and that only high-grade
work Is allowed to leave our laundry. Every day brings new custom
ers who are highly pleased with our work. May we call for a trial
package from you?
