Testing; Xew Machine.
The new Clove combined harvester
is being tested on the farm of J. M.
P. Snyder, a few miles east of the
city, where It is giving good satisfac
tion. It was recently equipped with
a 16-horse-power gasoline engine in
stead of the 12-horse-power with
which it was first equipped. It con
sumes about U gallons of gasoline
per day and the machine Is pulled by
12 horses, the engine being used to
operate the threshing machine part
of the harvester. It cuts about 30
acres per day and Mr. Clove thinks
It will be a success. Wheat in the
district where It Is working is aver
aging about 10 bushels per acre.

the subject of oiling the streets with
crude oil. His proposition is to make

virtue of such treatment. However,
he advised against the use or on on
the business streets, as It does not

Umatilla County Onions and Peaches

Dan C. Bowman, who Is In charge
of the Umatilla county exhibit at the

ara the finest to be found In the ag
ricultural building. Not only a few
r.r tho nnlnnn Are of this enormous
size but the entire exhibit averages
up uniformly large.
Also the Crawford peaches grown
h pv r. Walker, of Milton, and
which measure 10 1-2 Inches In cir
cumference are the finest In the
building and are the attraction or
every one passing through the ex
hibits. Both of these exhibits are
said by Prof. Van Deman, judge of
the horticultural exhibits, to be the
best In the building. This Is a de
