Echo, Or., Feb. 2S. Isaac Baylor,
father of J. B. Say lor, -of Butter
creek, left Echo for Pennsylvania
Tuesday morning by way of the Union
Pacific railroad. Mr. Saylor was
called to his former home In Perm'
sylvanla by the death ot his son-hv
law, who was recently killed while
working-on the railroad. He had in
tended to make this his .home with
his son, but now returns to his home
in Pennsylvania to live with his
daughter.
Mr. A. H. Sunderman left for Cot'
tage Grove Monday evening to visit
with his family for a week or so. His
mife writes that their baby la very
sick with pneumonia.
E. D. Cass, who has recently bought
property In Echo, has commenced the
erection ot his new hotel. This will
be an addition to Echo much needed.
Miss Lora Harrison has resumed
her duties as postmistress, she having
been out of the office about seven
week Her absence was necessitated
at first by her own sickness with
measles, and later she was obliged to
help In the care of her uncle and
aunt, who were also taken with the
measles.
M. D. Scroggs of Seattle, has been
visiting Mr. Strohm, and looking over
the county with a view to locating.
Mrs. R. E. Wright and son from
Eugene, have lately come among us,
and will as soon as they can, erect a
building and open a millinery busi
ness. Mr. and Mrs. .Charles Lisle took lit

day to be treated for the grip and
consequent troubles with his head.
The grip seems to have settled in his

tonight between Frank Ootch, the
champion catch-as-catch-can wrest
ler, and "Jim" Parr, who holds the
Ene-Hsh championship title. The ar
ticles call for a handicap match,
Ootch agreeing to throw the British
chamnlon twice In an hour or for
feit the match.
That Gotch la a wrestling marvel
Is conceded by New York's sporting
fraternity. It will be Gotch's debut
In New York and the occasion Is
looked upon as one of the biggest
sporting events of the year in tne
metropolis
It is generally conceded that he will
have to be at his best to beat Parr,
who la himself a champion. Parr is
the most spectacular wrestler in the
game today and is regarded as wor
thy opponent for the American cham
pion. . v

Jackson, Miss., Feb. 24. The most
important matter to be considered
and acted upon by the Masonic Grand
Lodge of Mississippi now In session
here is the selection of a location for
the Masonic home, for which funds
have been in process of collection for
some time. A number of the prlncl
pal cities of the state are desirous
of securing the home and a spirited
contest Is looked for before a final
decision Is reached In the matter.
Among the places mentioned as a pos
sible location for the Institution are
Jackson, Vlcksburg, Meridian, Blloxl
and Oxford.
