' Adam Felger, 70 years old, who lived the life of a recluse on a ranch 10 miles from La Crosse, was found dead In a field on his furm, yesterday. It Is evident the' old man had been killed by a runaway team while he was hauling a load of siraw on a com mon wagon box. Apparently the wagon struck a fence, causing the double trees to break and the aged driver to fall off forward. Probably he was dragged off by the lines, and his foot caught In the double trees. He was dragged several hundred yards and his body sadly mangled by being dragged over the rough and frozen ground. Colfax Commoner. Grant County Sularles Cut. Senator Laycock secured the pas suge Tuesday of a bill that will save Grant county $2180 a year. Senator Laycock explained that since present sularles were established the area of the county has been cut down and as the stock business has not been good, the people wish to cut down expenses. The salary of the clerk Is cut from 30() to 2r00; of the sheriff from J3600 to $2800; of the Judge from II, 000 to $800; of the treasurer from $800 to $720. Monument Enterprise. DR. D. J.
