anticipation than It will be In the
realization. Anyway, there is no use
to cross the bridge of danger until
the bridge is at hand and the
chances are several to one that there
will be no such bridge at ull to cross.
If all the promises of good things for
the farmers are realized, and with
fair prices for the products of the soil
this will be a year of prosperity to
look back upon with satisfaction.

Dakota to Sail Next Month.
New York. Feb. 9. Announcement
Is made that the Dakota, sister ship
of the monster Minnesota, now on Its
initial trip across the Pacific, will be
ready to go into commission early
next month. After leaving the East
ern Shipbuilding company's yards the
Dakota will visit New York, and pro
ceed thence to Norfolk to coal. A
visit to Philadelphia will probably be
made also before the vessel starts
on the long trip around the Horn to
Seattle. According to this plan, the
Dakota will be ready to sail on her
maiden voyage to the Orient July 1.

Concussion of tlie Drain.
Ren Craddock met with a severe
accident at the Hanley ranch this
morning. A horse fell with him and
Craddock fell In such a manner as to
strike his head, causing concussion of
the brain. The young man was
brought to the county hospital and
was still unconscious when we went
to press. Burns Times-Herald.
The belief Is gaining ground that
should Russia meet with reverses
during the spring campaign, or even
fall to train decided victories, that the
war will be called off, by sheer weight
of public prejudice against It In all
Russian circles except the purely mil
Itary.
