states of Maryland and Connecticut,
or more than half the area of Indi
ana. Every" dollar spent on Irriga
tion has added to the material wealth
of the nation- The money spent on
the navy did not increase the general
wealth of the country a penny. The
farmer who Is an advocate of "big
stick" policy, or is blinded by the
"world power" glitter, should do a lit
tle more earnest thinking.

silhouette their features in an un
favorable light in the public mind,
they will have none but themselbes
to blame.
The story will make Interesting
reading and will clear up a cloud of
misunderstanding and haze In tbe
financial circles of Eastern Oregon.

the publication can begin. The East
Oregonian wishes to be sure and se
cure, in Its statements. Then It will
tell the story.
