Shot for a Cougar.
Arthur Ferguson, a 14-year-old boy,
while out hunting about three miles
from East Hope, was mistaken for a
cougar by Minnes Miller and Instant
ly killed with a rifle ball.
The boy was hunting alone, as was
Mr. Miller, who lives at East Hope.
Miller was looking for a cougar, and
when he saw young Ferguson moving
among the bushes the lad's appear
ance was like that of an animal. Mil
ler fired and the boy fell dead. When
Miller saw his mistake he was nearly

On the Wild Hone Range.
Messrs. Patrick, Qlngley and Cor
coran returned the first of the week
from an expedition after wild horses
that roam the range of Bruneau.
They report getting 12 head all told.
but some died and others escaped
from them, but they managed to hold
on to five head of good horses which
they state are in size to make excel

Run Over by Train.
Sheriff Doust was summoned today
to Investigate the death of a man
killed last night near Cabinet on the
Northern Pacific at the boundary be
tween Idaho and Montana. The body
was found by the engineer of the
helper engine. It is supposed the man
was struck by the westbound passen
ger. The body lies In the section
house awaiting .he arrival of the
sheriff and coroner. The victim's

day, finishing up with a warm shower
of rain, but we muy have our share
of the real stuff yet, as last winter
the big end of the winter was after
this time.

Miss Townley, who has been teach
ing a three months' term of school
at Alba, has been employed for an

William Scott is confined to his
room with a sever attack of the grip.
At this writing the cancer on John
Reeve' hand is a little Improved. He
Is also getting a little stronger.
George and John Ellis were In the
Prairie last week, looking after their
