Total Receipts for the Past Month, 1.567.57; Expenses, $734.1 ; Profit to the Government, IKS5.41 News paper Postage and Stamp Sales Greatly Increase Stamp Sales $477 More Than In November, 1903. Perhaps no other Institution In the city Is as sure a barometer of public business as the postofflce. The report of the Pendleton post office for the month of November, Just completed by Assistant Postmas ter French, shows a total Increase In Income over November, 1903, of $488. 72. Of this increase $477. 56 is in stamp sales, $6.31 in newspaper post age, and $4.86 In box rent. The Increase In stamp sales Is one of the greatest Increases ever experi enced In one year. The business for the month of November was unusually heavy because of vigorous advertising by local mercantile Institutions'. Sev eral thousand circulars have been mailed In the past month, and the constantly increasing newspaper post age has also swelled the month's busi ness In a large degree. " Of the newspaper postage the East Oregonian paid $16.74; the Tribune and Ilakawinn combined paid $7.(0, making a total of $24.34 for the month, against a total of $18.03 for November, 1903.
