Miss Lily Train went to Walla Walla this morning on a visit Mrs. Leon Cohen left this morning or Portland, where she will visit for several days. James N. Kldwell, a prominent Walla "Walla stockman, was In Pen dleton yesterday. Mrs. O. E. Bean and son left for Portland this morning, where she will spend the winter. Miss Maude Crawford has gone to Portland to be the guest of Mrs. Ger ald Tuttle, nee Smith. Mrs. A. H. Sunderman Is visiting with her parents at Springfield, Lane county, for a few weeks. Miss Raulstone, of The Dalles, has been added to the teaching force of the Pendleton city schools. James Crawford and wife have re turned from a two weeks' visit to Al bany and other vnlley points. William Hilton went to Thorn Hoi low this morning tn the Interests of the Balfour-Guthrie company. Mrs. Isaacs Parkes returned to Walla Walla this morning after week's visit with her son, Joe H. Parkes. Mrs. W. J. Estes left this morning for Walla Walla, where Mr. Estes has employment for four months at carpentering. A. Richardson and wife have arriv ed from Montpeller, Idaho, and Mr. Richardson at braking on Nos. 5 and 6 on the O. R. & N. Mrs. D. E. Kllse and her sister, Mrs. M. B. Corliss, who is visiting her from Vermont, huve gone to La Grande for a visit with Mrs. Klise's brother. A. J. Good, of the Aldon Candy Company, of Portland, is the guest of his sister, Miss Mattie Good, at the home of Mrs. William Hilton. William Keller, of the Goodman Thompson Hardware Company, was called to Portland last night by the death of his grandmother In that city, Miss Blanche McCaffee, of Condon will arrive tonight and be the guest of Miss Vesta Dennis for a few days. She is en route to Walla Walla on visit. The family of Dr. T. J. Llnyd has arrived from North Powder and now occupies the house formerly occupied bv Dr. J. Christie, at 723 Cosble street. Albert Johnson, a recent arrival from Aetna Green, lnd., will move his family down from Walla Walla and reside here for the remainder of the winter. Alan Wakellng, Inspector of agen cies for the 'Union' of London Insur ance company, was in Pendleton yes terday. Mr. Wakellng resides In San Francisco. licit Conchas and Ira Trail, of Bor der. T. Sline. of San Francisco, n brother of Mrs. O. E. Roosevelt, spent Sunday and Monday visiting with his slsier. He was en route from an ex tended trip through the East to Sail Francisco. Arthur Luing and family left this miming for Portland and for other valley points. It Is quite possible that they will locate In the valley, and their present trip is for the purpose of thoroughly investigating all the claims of that country for residential purposes. J. V. Mrs. Epple and daughter May, or Pendleton, are here for a tew days, living on their homesteads. The local option lecture here last night at the church was largely at tended. Leonca A. Downs Is building a new barn and will go Into the cattle bus iness. Charles Cunningham Is branding his calves and moving his cattle to his Butter creek ranch for the winter. Jim Ellis has charge of the herd. Football Saturday. A game of football will be played at Walla Walla next Saturday be tween the Pendleton and Walla Walla high school teams.
