lodge of the K. of P., were In town
last night, going home this morning.
Earnest Younger took the morning
northbound train with the Intention
of attend the Lewiston fair and being

coming session of the United States

Mrs. T. M. Keller and the young
est child returned from their Eastern
trip Saturduy after a seven-weeks'
absence. They visited Duluth, Min
neapolis, St. Paul and many other lo
calities In the north middle West.
Mis. Trail and her daughter, Mrs.
K. T. Unln, of Htnlock, III., have been
visiting Mrs. G. T. Lott and family,
of the west- end. They this morn
ing left for the state line country
northwest of Milton, to visit with the
Kankins.
Sheriff T. D. Taylor left this morn
ing for Salem with George ijimoni

serve three year sentences in the
state penitentiary for larceny by
bailee and larceny from the person,
respectively.
Will R. King of Ontario, was In
Pendleton on his way to Walla Walla
where his family resides. Mr. King
was nt one time very prominent in
Oregon politics and was un unsuccess
ful candidate for governor on
populist ticket. i

County Clerk Frank Sallng is send
ing out notices of the election to be
held November 8 to determine
whether the sule of Intoxicating
liquors shall be prohibited in uma

in this country and locating perma
nently. At the same time they will
remain Tiere for the winter, and if
the spring finds them with their pres
ent intentions, they will make their
