Hoff in the compilation of his biennial report for the state legislature, had occasion to use the report of the acreage of the state of Oregon, nnd the amounts appropri ated. The data has not been publish ed In full and therefore will prove of Interest nt this time. The data is complete and up to date. In the Burns district the total area Is 0,302,000 acres nnd of this, 1,042.- 000 surveyed nnd 1,3S6,"19 unsur veyed, making a total of 6,123,350 acres remaining unappropriated and unreserved; 1,S61,723 acres have been appropriated and 2,010,327 have been reserved, Lit Grande district, total ncreage. S, 343,000; appropriated, 4,231,422; reserved, 2,691,497, while of unappro priated and unreserved lands amount ing to SS0.0S1 acres, 1,700,859 have been surveyed and 159,222 remain un surveyed. - in uiKcview mstrict, total area, 15,427,420; appropriated, 2,666,308 acres; reserved, 4,176,725 acres; of the unappropriated and unreserved lands nmountlng to S.1S3.7S7 acres, 4,341,547 acres have been surveyed nnd 3,242,240 acres remain unsur veyed. The reserved lands include forests reserves, Indian ' reservations nnd other reservations by the govern ment. Umatilla County. The following statistics are given on Umatilla county: Umatilla, the wheat county of Ore gon, offers to the public through the national government 173,594 acres of free land, of which 16S.055 acres are surveyed and 5539 acres are unsur veyed.
