Hutchlus of Dayton, W iisli.. Is in Spokane searching for her husband, It. Vance Hutchlus. who left home very suddenly early In July without (tilling his wife or his creditors where he was going, says the Wnlla Walla Statesman. Mr. Hutchlus was formerly editor of a paper nt Dayton. He Is a man of pleasant address, about 28 years of age, six feet tall, weight ICS or 100 pounds, and lins very dark hair and eyes. Mrs. Hutchlus Is searching for him so that affairs can be straightened out. From whut hns been learned It is believed Hutchlus may he on the other side of the boundary. (Hutchlus Is well known in Pen dleton, linvlug been city editor of 'the East Oregonlan several months about two years ago. He had trouble with a first wife before coming to Pendle ton and now" the second matrimonial venture seems to have ended dlsas- Recovering From Paralysis. J. G. Bruce, who has been under treatment at the hospital for some time, suffering from paralysis, Is suf ficiently recovered to be able to come down town this morning on foot. He expects to return to Wallowa coun ty In a short time, and from there to his old home In Kansas City, where he has two sons In the lumber busi ness. Mr. Bruce's paralysis he be lieves was caused by a fall. Two Thousand Head of Cattle. The advance herds of the 2000 head of cattle recently purchased In Grant county by J. C. Lonergan for the 'Seattlo market, will arrive In Pendleton tomorrow morning. It will take about thcee days for' all the cattle to arrive. In which number eight states are represented, all the way from Maine to California, seven scnoois of Oregon, California and Washing ton are represented. Hall, for five years deputy county clerk and recently appointed chief deputy assessor, has resigned to take a position In the Farmers' Hank of Weston. Mr. Hall formerly resided at Weston. During his serv ice In the county clerk's office be became widely known throughout the eastern part of the state. Assessor Strain has not selected Mr. Hall's successor. "Until the assessment rolls nre completed,", said Mr. Strain, "W. H. Fowler, who has been In the office for some time, will remain with me. After that the work will not be very heavy for several months, nnd I may get along without a deputy." ItEGISTEItING SLOWLY. Fifty-flu1 Voters Hine Signed Up in One Month. Only 55 voters have registered In Umatilla county since the poll books were opened u month ago. The books will be closed October 20, and will remain so until after election. A very large majority of the voters registered last spring, preceding the county election. When the books were closed by Clerk W. D. Cham berlalu 427G names were recorded. Of the 55 who have registered this fall, 42 are residents of Pendleton. WARD MANKEIt FOUND. In Custody of tlio Police nt Spokimo Homo Tomorrow. Ward Manker, the 10-year-old boh of Mrs. D. Forsythe, who hns been missing from Ills home since last Thursday morning, Is In the custody of the Spokane police department. He will be returned home tomorrow. The child ndmltted to the officers at Spokane that he ran away from home. When the boy's disappearance was reported to the sheriff's office and the local police department, his de scription was wired to outside points and he was soon located. Spring Chicken Dinner.
