At the triennial Episcopal conven tion at Boston Dr. J. The house voted to continue the com mittee In office. The report Is as follows: "The committee appointed Bishop Dnaue, the Rev. Dr. Greer nnd Fran cis I,ynde Stetson as a sub-commlt-teo to carry out the purpose of the resolution under which the commis sion wns appointed. And In response to the note addressed by the sub-committee to the representative organiz ations of other religious bodies, a conference .was called, which held Its first meeting on the Hith of Jan uary In St. Bartholomew's parish house, New York. "The conference wns organized un der the title of the Inter-church Con ference on Marriage and Divorce, by the election of Bishop Doane as chairman and the Rev. Dr. W. H. Roberts as secretary. It has held several meetings, Increased In numer ical and In representative attend ance and In Interest nnd direct re sults. It hnR adopted the following reso lutions, which nre reported to be the results so far attained: "Resolved. That, In recognition of the comity which should exist be tween Christian churches, It Is desira ble nnd would tend to the Increase of a spirit of Christian unity for each church represented In the confer ence to advise, and. If ecclesiastical authority will allow, enjoin Its minis ters to refnse to unite In marriage any person or persons whose mar rinse such minister shall have rea son to believe is forbidden by the lnws of the church In which either party seeking to be married liolds menibersliip." A brief discussion on the subject of changing the legal name of the church followed the presentation of the report of the committee np pointed by the last convention for the purpose of considering this issue. The report, which was mnde public Inst soring, recommended that no change be made at this time. The deputies voted unanimously to dis charge the committee, provided the house of deputies should agree. DEMOCRATIC KAMA. IllgKOst Meeting or Mar) laud. Cam paign nt Baltimore. Baltimore, Md., Oct. 10. The dem ocrats of Baltimore hold the big meeting of their campaign In the Lyric theater tonight. Vlcc-Prcslden-tial Candidate Henry G.' Davis will be present nnd Senator Gormnn will preside over the meeting. The speakers nre to include Senator John YV Daniel of Virginia, former Sena tor David B, Hill of New York nnd former Senator William Plnkney Whyte of Maryland. Tomorrow morning Messrs. Davis, Hill, Daniel nnd Whyte will start for their tour of West Virginia. This trip Is expected to consume two weeks, nnd will Include meetings nt Wheel ing, Grafton, Parkersburg, Clarks burg, Piedmont, Charleston, Hunting ton nnd the other chleY cities nnd towns of the state. On some occa sions the party wilt be divided, nnd agnln the whole four will meet and speak a' the same place. Xavajos to Give Fire Dance. Albuquerque, X. M Oct. 10. The 24th New Mexico Territorial fair opened today with flattering pros pects of success. Many visitors nro already arriving and the attend ance promises to be a record break ei. In addition to the exhibits rep resenting the rich resources of the territory the attractions Include numerous features of entertainment. Probnbly the most interesting of these Is the Xnvajo sacred fire dance, In which 100 Indians, led by Chief Benrface will tnke part. The Mis sissippi Valley Medical Association will hold Its annual meeting In this city during the three days beginning tomorrow nnd several hundred of the most prominent physicians of the country have nlrenily arrived to at tend the meeting. Though originally planned to embrace only the slates of the Mississippi valley, as Its name Implies, the society lias gradually broadened its scope until now Its membership includes eminent physi cians In mnay parts of the country. The president of the association Is Dr. Hugh T. Patrick of Chicago. Whit ney, which is to take place tonight ill Madison Square Gnrden, Is regard ed in horse circles ns the most im portant sale of thoroughbreds since the dispersal sale of the Marcus Daly Bitter Root farm. The horses are to be sold In order to settle up the Whit ney estate. It Is expected that many of them will be bought in by Harry Payne Whitney, who will continue the breeding of race horses at La Belle Stud farm, near Lexington, Ky.
