The lumber will be on the ground and
the actual construction of the build
ing begun Monday next.
Robert Forster has the contract for
the milled lumber, and the Oregon
Lumber Co. for the plain lumber. La
bor and material will all be furnish
ed from Pendleton.
H. P. Rolfe, acting engineer In the
absence of Mr. Cutler, who Is still
critically ill, was over and looked
after some of the details, including
laying out the ground.
The W. & C. R. owns a 200-foot
front on Webb street, between Garden
and Willow, besides an L along Wil
low, adjacent.
The new depot will be 72x28 feet.

Weston, Sept. 21. Weston's sa-
loonmen are arrayed against each
other because of local option, and the
climax1 of n stormy interview yes
terday between Herman Hessel, pro
prietor of the White House, and C.
H. Walters, proprietor of the Weston
saloon, waB a charge of assault
against the latter, Hessel Is said to
have gone to Wulters' saloon to dis
cuss local option. Words followed,
and the former Is nlleged to have left
the Weston saloon with more rapidi
ty than dignity. Walters was ar
rested for assault and battery anil
fined $7.D0.
Hessel Is said to be circulating a
local option petition among the resi
dents of East Weston and the moun
tain precincts, where he expects to
secure enough support to defeat the
meuHure when It comes before the
voters. The anti-saloon men are con
fident of victory, and have their pe
titions ready for filing. They look
Upon the trouble between Hessel and
Walters us hopeful, to their cuuse.

Kansas City. This tariff applies only
to carload lots of not less than 30,000
