Ml MAIX STREET. Among the score of secret societies In Pendleton Increased activity Is no tlcenhle as the weather grows cooler and people begin to return from the summer resorts. During the hot months a number of the orders sus pended their' sessions. Others held regular meetings, but the attendance was generally small, No definite plans for fall work has been arranged by any of the lodges. Pocahontas Minstrels. Anita Council. Degree of Pocahontas, Is arranging for a. minstrel perform ance to take place within a few weeks. This lodge meets the second and fourth Wednesdays of each' month. Meetings have been held dur ing the summer. A. V. M A. -M. The Masonic lodges of the city are among the strongest and most flour ishing of the secret societies. Just at present a number of the members are absent In San Francisco attending the Knights Templar conclave. Dur ing the summer the lodges were clos ed. Pendleton lodge So. 52, A. P. & A. M holds Its sessions on the first and third Mondays of each month. The meetings will begin on the third Monday of this month. Order r En-tern Star. Bushee Chapter, Xo. 12, Order of Eastern Star, meets on the first and third Fridays of each month. It. A. 31. and Conunnmlery. The Hoyal Arch Masons, meet on the second nnd fourth Fridays of each month. Pendleton Commandery, Knights Templar. Is In session on the first and third Fridays of each month. A. O. IT. W. The A. O. U. W. lodge of Pendle ton has not been closed this year. Viola lodge Xo. 114 meets every Fri day. The Decree of Honor, the wom en's auxiliary, holds Its sessions on the first and third Mondays of the months. It. P. O. E. Pendleton lodge Xo. 2SK, Benevo lent and Protective Order of Elks, meets on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. The first meeting this fall was held on the first Tuesday of the present month. 1 O. K. The Pendleton Aerie of Eagles is In session every Monday, the year around. G. A. It. Kit Curson Post Xo. 2S, Is the nunie of the Grand Army of the Republic post In this city. In spite of the fact that the members are men who fought for their country over 40 yours ago, the local post Is in a flour ishing condition with a membership of 00. Three new members are to be initiated shortly. The lodge ses sions are held on the second nnd fourth Saturday afternoons of each month. 1. O. It. M. Pmahollls Tribe Xo. IS. Improved Order of Itedmen, meets every Tues day. It enjoys one of the largest memberships of any lodge In the city, barring, perhaps, the Odd Fellows. I. O. O. 1 There are four branches of the In dependent Order of Odd Fellows In this city. Eureka lodge Xo. 32, meets every Saturday. Integrity. Xo. 92, meets on Wednesday evenings, the Hebekahs hold forth on the second and fourth Mondays nnd Umatilla Encampment has Its sessions on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. Maccabees. Umatilla Tent Xo. 2", Knights of the Maccabees, meets on the first nnd second Tuesdays of each month. Xo meetings were held during the summer. k. of r. Damon Lodge, Knlglits of Pythias, meets every Monday. The knights enjoyed a recess during the hot wcatiitr. The Rnthbone sisters meet every Friday night. Order of Washington. The tSrdcr of Washington meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. Artisans. The United Artisans meet on Tues day nights. This lodge has a large membership In this city and In Uma tilla county. W. O. W. anil Woodcraft. The orders of the Woodmen of the World and the Women of Woodcraft have strong lodges In Pendleton. The Woodmen meet every Saturday eve ning. The circles of Woodcraft meet on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month, nnd the first and third Wednesdays. A few lodges that were organized In Pendleton have gone out of exist- ! once. Among these is thje Sons of Hermann, a well known Germnn or- i der. Fearful Odds Against IIIiu.
