The-groln receipts at Seattle for the ionth:of August, according to the re ort furnished by Grain Inspectov ridorson, were the hit-Rest of the year and In excess of the record for the same month last year. There were 300 cars of wheat received, nine cars of oats and 24 cars of barley. During August of 1002 only 159 cars of wheat, 33 cars of oats and seven cars of barley arrived. The Increase In favor of 1004 Is more than 100 per cent. During the month of July of this year the receipts of wheat aggre gated 172 cars, of oats there were 41 cars and of bnrloy 12 cars. "Walla Walla Statesman. Wants Oregon Sheep. .1. S. Allison, a Wyoming sheep buyer, Is In the county trying to pur chase about 15,000 head of yearlings anil two-year-olds. It Is understood that he Is offering $1.50 for the for mer and $2 for the latter. Growers seem to think quite generally that conditions justify better prices, and It has not been learned so far that any deals have been closed. Grant Coun ty News. Hottest September. The maximum temperature In Holso yesterday 90 degrees, was 14 degrees warmer than had ever before been recorded for September by the weather bureau la this city. The heat over the Pacific slope broke all pre vious records for September. Spring and fall wheat both produced well, running from 25 to 55 bushels an acre.
