Brewer, of Wilson creek, Wash., west of Spokane, on the Great Northern, returned home this morn ing. She has been the guest of mi ter Markham and his sister, Miss Aula Markham. Mrs. T. J. Morris and son have re turned home from their outing trip of three months, upon which she visited Puyallup, Tacoma, Seattle, Portland and various other points on the coast. O. F. Turner and wife have arrived from their five weeks' camping trip to Wallowa county. They enjoyed themselves Immensely, and recom mend that country to tho attention of all pleasure seekers in summer. Miss Olive Van Nuys has arrived and will make her home for the en suing year with her brother, Itev. W. L. Van Nuys during tho ensuing year. Mr. Watklns Is a somewhat famous wrestler and athlete, and lately came down from Baker City. Conductor M. H. Patton has return ed from his vacation at Priest Lake and resumed his duties on the Pen dleton-Sookane passenger run, and Couductor Shepherd, who substituted, has returned to his regular run be tween Wallace and Burke. Ed Koontz and wife, of Athena, uc companled by Mrs. T. J. Kirk, of La Grande, the mother of Mrs. Koontz, were iu town last night and today en route to Portland, where they wlU hereafter reside, and where Mr. Koontz will engage In the grocery business. J. L. Stockman and wife will leave here on the morning of September C for a two months visit to Indiana, Ohio and the St. Louis fair. Mr. Stockman has resided in the Vansy cle district fur 25 years, until 18 months ago, when he romov.ed to Pen dleton. He still owns a large tract of wheat land at Vansycle.
