Historic Old City Making Great Prepa rations to Entertain the Veterans Largest Crowd of Visitors In History of the City Is Expected Sessions Will Last for Three Days. Boston, Mass.. Auk. 5. The local committee on arrangements expresses confidence that the coming national encampment of the Orand Army of tho Republic In Boston will ho one of tho most (significant, most interesting and most largely attended reunions ever held by tho veterans of tho civil war. It has been many years slnc.o tho vet-i ernns were entertained as tho guests of this city, hut tho reception then given the members of tho Grand Army was ono of the most notable experi ences in tho story of tho order, it Is the apparent purpose of tho peoplo of ! Boston and vicinity to make this en-' rampment stl'l more noteworthy. The expert testimony of passenger ngents whoso roads reach Boston dlrectlv or ' Indirectly is that tho crowd will sur pass any ever seen here slnco the great Knights Templar conclave In ! 1895, : Historic Old Boston. Boston is especially attractlvo to most of the members of tho Orand Army on account of its historic nsso I ilations and the prominent part it took 1 in the events leading up to the conflict l (hctwHn the stales. There Is no city m i'.e country In which tho O. A. It ! ui , similar organizations flourish ru'irc than they do in Boston. The I various Grand Army posts of tho city, and of the entire state in fact, to gether wi,h the local organizations oi" the W H. C. Ladies of tho G. A. It., i and Sons of Veterans have entered 1 enthusiastically Into tho work of pre-j paring for the reception and enter-1 taliiment of the visitors for the com-1 ing encampment. If the welfare and comfort of every stranger hero on that occasion are not amply provided for it certainly will not bo tho fault of the local committees. Sessions Last Three Days. The sessions of the reunion will last for three days, beginning on Tuesday, the Kith. The entertainment of the veterans atd their friends, however, will cover the entire wee. Probably the most Interesting features of. the entertainment program will bo carried out on Thursday when tho veterans will lie taken on an automobile rldo to the places of historic interest about Boston. Leaving the city early in tho afternoon they will go out through Cambridge, Arlington, Lexington and Concord, the territory made famous by the patriots of the revolution, and along the British lino of retreat which followed those early victories of the American arms. The termination of the route will bp at Concord, return ing by way of Sudbury and Newton. Grand Parade. The same evening there will be given the parado of illuminated floats, which promises to be one of the most brilliant features ever arranged for the entertainment of tho Grand Army veterans. The parade will pass over tho surface railroads of tho city ana will consist of 10 tableau cars. There are to be nearly 10,000 electric lights in the make-up of the floatB. Tho keynoto of the entire display will be patriotism. Tho first tableau will bo the "Birth of the Flag," in which tho Goddess of Liberty appears.. Tho sec ond float will represent tho purchase of ixiulslana In 1803. Other floats will bo "Ocean Conquered in tho Year 1813," "The Land of Flowers," depict ing the state of Florida: "Triumph of Statesmanship," "Triumph of UIcc triclty," "Ixino Star," "Eldorado," "Tho Triumph of Diplomacy," "Tho neunion," "The Midnight Sun," "Tri umph or Engineering," "Triumph of Finance," 'The Pearl of the Pacific," and the final float "Our Now Posses sions." Another novel feature of tho enter tainment program will bo a fish din ner lo do given on Friday of reunion week. The dinner will bo served at Bass Point, and on the trip the visitors will have an opportunity of seeing Nn- hant and neighboring places. During the week Boston's historic bulldlugs, Including tho Old North church, Faneull hall, King's chapel and the Bunker Hill monument will bo open to the general public. S. W. That gold Is f inned from solution Is generally recognized. The miner re wives the theory because It explains the making of gold to III i it. but he of ten wonders how it is done, so here Is what has been seen: Dalhtrl-e once pro pared u solution of gold and left In It a small piece of Metallic gold, Acci dentally a sum piece of wood fell Into the solution. The solution decomposed the gold assumed u metallic stale and collected and held to Ihe small niece of undissolved gold, which Increit'.ed m size. Another Investigator heard of this and made u dilute gold solution, in which he Immersed n piece of Iron pyrites and left It there n mouth. lie added also organic mutter, uud at tho month's end the pyrites were covered with u fllm of metallic gold. Pyrites uuu gaicnn were next tried, und each was covered with gold. Gold, copper PjnicB, arseiucnl pyrites, galenu and woirram were also tried, with Hlmllur leouim. oieiaine nrecipitutes were mod, and while they threw down the goiu as a metallic powder they did not cause it to cohere nor to plate any of the substances tried. Organic mat ter thus seemed the necessary chemical agent. Through the wood used In these experiments gold was disseminated In fine particles, Imagine these expert-. luviiiH conducted by nature through ages and the result could be a nugfet.
