(Tn tho Editor.) In last night's issue of tho East Oregonlan 1 was made to say that I would not build if I could 'help myself. This ls an error. I did say that I had to build whether I wanted to or not, but local option had noth ing to do with it. In fact, tho business men of Pen dleton aro making a great bug-a-boo about local option. This is a mis take. Pendleton ls too solid n city to be materially affected by this ques tion. This county will raise Just as much wheat, cattle and sheep, and get just as good prices whether dry or wet. Calamity howling does hurt a town and visibly affects the timid. Neither Dr. Smith, Mr. Crawford, O'Gara or myself are In the leaBt affected one way or the other by the election nnd will all build, no matter what rumors ftre circulated to tho contrary. Respectfully, 0, A, ROBBINS. REPAIRS AND ALTERATIONS. Presbyterian Church House and Par sonage Improvements. It was decided to purchase a water motor which will be used to furnish nnv.nr for tho organ, and besides seV' eral other business matters tending to the convenience and benefit of the church were decided upon, ine wonc of Improvement will be commenced at some time during the coming week.
