Hand-Made Spur and Rowell From a
Skeleton Foot.
Mention was made some time ago
in the papers from the interior of the
finding of a human foot protruding
from the bank of a creek. Attached
to It was an old-fashioned, hand-mndo
spur, such as was worn by tho cow
boys of the early days. This spur is
now in the possession of Tex Langl
ver, having been brought to Pendle'
ton by "Bill" Lester, a sheepherder.
The spur Is very heavy, the rowell
being three Inches In diameter. It Is
rusted so that it has the appearance
of being a solid piece, it is supposed
to havo been worn by a wealthy cat-
tleowner, who mysteriously dlsap
peared many years ago, whllo riding
from town to his camp with his cat
tie herders' wages. The man, who
was very wealthy, was never heard of
after be left the city, and though it
was suspected that he bad been mur
dered, no one could ever bo connect
ed with the crime, and the mystery
remained unsolved until the finding of
tho skeleton and the spurs.

Flour Trust Favors Some Paternalist
Ic Legislation.
Niagara Falls, N. Y., Juno 8. Un-
der the nusnlces of tho NationnI Mill
ers' Federation, organized In Chicago
two years ago, nearly 1000 mill men
of Minnesota, Kansas, Missouri, wis
consln, Illinois, Iowa, Ohio, Oklnho
ma and other states nssombled In con
ference here today to discuss trans
portatlou facilities, storage nnd varl
ous other matters affecting tho Hour
milling Industry.
Foremost among tho legislative
measures which aro being pushed by
tho millers is tho I-overing bill pond
ing In congress. Tho bill Is intended
to simplify the matter of American
millers getting back In rebate tho
amount of duty they have to pay on
foreign wheat when tho cereal la
manufactured Into flour and exported
Such a rebate Is allowed now, but
the millers complain that It Is hedged
about with so many obstacles that It
Is next to impossible for them to bo-
cure it. They say that if It wero pos
slble to havo adopted a measure such
as the Loverlng bill, American millers
could grind nearly all the wheat
grown In Canada and ship the Hour
to Europe.
