Mr. Babcock purchased It five years ago and believed It could bo well supplied with water and be mado a good, paying farm. "The good wheat land Is on a bench 1100 feet above the Columbia river, and two mhes back from tho river. A 30-horsepower traction en gine Is used to pump the water from the Columbia back upon the bench and Into a big reservoir holding 100, 000 gallons. Water from the reser voir Is piped a considerable distance to a point whoro It will bo handy for tho btg trnctlon engine that runs the plow and Is also used for domestic purposes." Williams Hangs at The Dalles. Tho decision that murderer Wil liams must meet his terrible fate at Tho Dalles has caused no little ex citement hero, Shorlff Sexton being ope who wishes it might bo other wise. Pacific Elevator Company Will Its Wheat at Once. Ship Charles Kennedy has finished tho registration books, and is now In tho grain business. He Is busy today making arrangements to securo cars for tho transportation of 30,000 bush els of wheat now stored In the ware house of the Pacific Coast Elevator Company at Mission, to Eastern buy ers. This shipment will practically clean out the warehouses of this com pany In this county. Meets at Spokane. Spokane, Wash., June 2. Tho coun ty superintendents of tho state of Washington assembled In convention here today In response to the call is sued by State Superintendent of Pub lic Instruction Bryan.
