Believed That Holders Will Get the Better Prices This Year. Boss McDonald sold his wool last night for ?.Vs cents, which Is some what less than the figure secured by htm last year. His clip this year amounted to about 30,000 pounds, and was of better quality than InBt year. It is tho general opinion now of most or the growers, that those who have held for the sales day will get as good prices for their wool, If not better, than those who have sold from under the agreement to hold for the sales days. It is now thought that when all of the buyers get together the price will be a little better than when the purchases are made privately. DELEGATE TO PORTLAND. H. E. Bickers Appointed to National Conference of Charities. H. E. Bickers has received his ap pointment from Governor Chamber lain as a delegate to the national con ference of charities and corrections to bu convened in Portland, Me., about the middle of June. There are sever al other deleeates from this state. among them being Superintendent W. H. Gardner, of the Hoys- and uiris Aid Society, of Portland. Mr. Bick ers haB not yet decided to go, mil thinks that he will take the trip. A Roosevelt Convention. Sacramento, May 19. Tho republl can state convention was called to or der this afternoon with about 700 del' egates present. The utmost enthusl' asm and harmony prevailed, though the election of delegates at largo Is expected to develop a sharp contest. Roosevelt's administration will be in dorsed, and tho delegation be Instruct ed to cast Its vote for him at Chicago, The Ijob Angeles delegates, who got back of ex-Senator Dulla in his fight for a nlace as delegate at large, will be disappointed. The combination of northern counties Is so strong that Ilulla stands no chance. Delegates to Chicago. The delegates at large to the repub lican national convention will bo Gov ernor Pardee, George A. Knight of San Francisco, John I Sprecklcs and Judge J. W, McKenney of Ij Angeles. The convention was called to order according to achedulo by Chairman Cutter of tho state committee.
