This is t of respect for tho wishes of pie who have objected. Of I would have gone ahead and I my part of the contract in leasing tho grounds, had the show managers insisted. However, I ad vised against the show's taking place and my advice was taken." Mayor Boyd deserves no credit for tho non-occurrence of this Mexican show. When seen this morning the mayor stated thnt ho had taken no action In the matter and would not take any. Ho said lie did not know whether the show would take place or not. He undorstood It had been postponed until Monday, out of re spect for tho church element. Tho abandonment of the perform ance will occasion considerable loss to tho light promoters. It had been extensively advertised through the newspapers nnd by billing. The ani mals had been shipped from Montana and tho showmen wero on the ground at considerable expense. Spokane Press. Interest Rates Reduced. M. U. Goldsmith, agent of the stntc land board, arrived In the city yes terday from tho reservation, where he has been appraising lands for stnte loans. Mr. Goldsmith has re cently visited the Rlmrock country and Culdesac, Ilo, Mohlor and Ness Perces sections nnd stated that the spring work Is well advanced In all localities. On the Nez Porces prairie the seeding will bo completed In about ten days, while In the Rlmrock section the grain Is now nbout all In. Tho fall grain in the latter locality suffered considerably by the winter nnd on the north hillsides the dam ago is the most severe. In the prnirle country tho grain Is looking well and tho farmers nre confident of good crops. Mr. Goldsmith states that since the stato commenced to loan money In November the loan companies In this section huvo reduced their rates one per cent. The state has recently loaned nbout $52,0(10 in this section divided as follows: Nez Perces coun ty, ?33,000; Idaho county, $9,000; Shoshone county, $10.0(10. The state charges a rato of 7 per cent for the use of the money, which is about 2 per cent loss than Is now charged by the loan companies. Lewistou Tribune. Not Impresed With Fair. G. J. Williams of Spokane, was hero today between trains to confer with M. E. Bain relative to mining ! properties in Idaho und Montana In 'which tliuy are jointly interested. Mr. Williams Is just returning from a visit to tho World's fair. He does .not speak very favorably of tho ex position. He says the attendance Is slim, and very few of the stnte ex hibits aro complete. The Oregon ex hibit, lie sayB, was Just being un packed when he left. It will bo at least 00 days, ho thinks, before the fair can be opened up in proper shape. Sumpter Miner. RELIABLE SERVICE A. J. BEAN )N6 OF AIL KINDS itiktii but of care of. Leave : icnticD'a.
