Mrs. .Martha Daubs, of Pittsburg.

Alonzo Hristow, of Bedford. Ia.,
sold S3 fine horses In Chicago for
$10,700. While on his way from one
bank to another, a thief silt the
satchel in which he had tho money,
and made a clean get-away with
every dollar.
Two surgeons, an X-ray machine
and an operation relieved the stom
ach of Paul Clarkson, a diamond
thief of Galveston, of a $250 stone.
The owner of tho diamond paid the
expenses, and Clarkson was released
without being prosecuted.
The baseball ganto at Athena Sun
day between tho Wonders of Pendle
ton and the Athena team was one of
tho best and fastest that has been
seen In this part of tho country for
some time.
Up to tho ninth' Inning tho game
was In doubt, and at that tlmo Athe
na tied tho score. After that It took
tflvo Innings to play off tho tie, which
was dono In tho 14th limine by Pen
,dlctou making three runs, ending the
ganio with a score of 7 to 4 In favor
of Pendleton.
Tho game was a good one, fast and
furious from tho first. All tho men
on both teams played their share of
tho game and Knapp, the catcher for
,tho Wonders, nnd King, the pitcher,
were tho heroes of tho gamo. Knapp
played an errorless gamo behind tho
tint for tho full 14 Innings, and King
pitched to him like a veteran. StraJiil
at short, played a brilliant game, and
took some of the hardest chances to
be found on an Infield, with perfect
.ease and assurance.
The gamo put up by tho hosts was
.a good one clean, and for tho most
part errorless, lip to the fourteenth
inning when things went to the bad
for a minute nnd lost them the
gamo, tho Athena boys wore playing
like machines. If all of the games
can bo as close and as Interesting as
tho one of Sunday the baseball fans
will have nothing to wish In tho line
of entertainment.
